Located on a site with an existing foundation in Mount Washington, the Sea View Residence is a reimagination of how the site could be used to capture the views while maintaining a low street profile. At the three stories, and 3900 sf of living spaces, the house was conceived as four separate volumes that are unified by bridging elements to reduce its perceived scale and presence on the site.

Floor to ceiling doors and windows provide visual connection to the adjacent deck and living spaces.

Entry stairs lead to third floor deck and office space.

Planters embedded in-wall soften the home’s corners

High ceiling living room and kitchen are illuminated by multiple sources of light.

White oak panels line the living room space and interior cabinetry.

Private balcony in the master bedroom overlooks the Mount Washington hills.

White oak built-in storage in the master bedroom.

Master bathroom consists of a continuous bath space to the shower.

Outdoor barbeque and patio space is connected to an interior living space.

Exposed concrete from existing and new construction rises through the stairwell space.

Massing physical models outline how the house is split into multiple volumes to utilize the existing foundation and reduce the perceived scale of the house.

The Sea View Residence was designed to utilize the foundation of a much larger home that previously occupied the site:
