Casey Hughes Architects (CHA) is a full-service architecture firm in Los Angeles that specializes in residential architecture and hillside homes. We draw on our understanding of architecture, construction, and zoning regulations to create compelling buildings that integrate our client's needs with the site and context. Casey Hughes, the principal of Casey Hughes Architects, is a licensed architect and a LEED Accredited Design Professional certified by the United States Green Building Council.
He has worked on a wide range of architectural projects including design, construction management, and documentation of single and multi-family residences, retail and restaurant spaces, as well as educational and cultural facilities. His design work has won numerous awards, including first place in the Lyceum Competition for which he received a six-month travel grant to research architecture in Japan. He was also awarded the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Henry Adams Medal for Excellence in Architecture and an AIA Merit Award for Residential Architecture.
Hughes received a Bachelor of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), graduating valedictorian. He holds a Masters of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), where his work was selected to appear in publications and exhibitions. Upon graduation from the GSD, Hughes taught an architecture studio in the Harvard GSD Career Discovery Program. He has taught undergraduate and graduate architecture studios and seminars at the Boston Architectural College, SCI-Arc, and Woodbury University School of Architecture. Hughes has served as a critic at other universities, such as the University of California Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona, and the University of Southern California.
Hughes is a committee member of the Los Angeles Planning and Land Use Committee, reviewing planning projects in Mt. Washington, Montecito Heights, Monterey Hills, and Sycamore Grove. He was appointed to the SCI-Arc Alumni Council, where he is spearheading a publication that celebrates Alumni achievements for SCI-Arc’s 50th anniversary. Hughes also serves as the Chair of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects Governmental Outreach Committee (GO) whose mission is to “establish a political voice for architects and perform leadership outreach to policymakers and elected officials on matters of importance to AIA LA”.
